PUERTO RICAN ACTIVISTS TO COURT

ANOTHER FISHING EXPEDITION BY THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT

Friday, January 11, at 9:30 a.m. at the Federal Court, 225 Cadman Plaza East at Tillary St, Brooklyn, three Puerto Rican’s activists have been subpoenaed in New York to appear at the Federal Court in Brooklyn, N.Y. The three activists are: 31-year old, Christopher N. Torres, who was born and raised in the Bronx. A social worker serving poor communities of color, Christopher was also a student activist at Hunter College (CUNY) and remains active in many Puerto Rican causes including the campaign to get the U.S. Navy out of Vieques and the release of Puerto Rican political prisoners.

Tania M. Fronteras, born and raised in Puerto Rico, now a resident of New York. A professional graphic designer. She has been involved in many Puerto Rican causes on behalf of Vieques as well as anti-war demonstrations and for the release of all the Puerto Rican political prisoners. Her art is part of the permanent collection at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Santurce, Puerto Rico.

The third person subpoenaed, is 27-year old Julio Antonio Pabón, born and raised in the Bronx, graduated from Wesleyan in Connecticut and a budding filmmaker for a European company in New York. This Federal fishing expedition is a carbon copy of the long ago U.S. reprisal of Puerto Ricans whose only “crime” is their God given right of believing in the independence of their beloved Puerto Rico. Just another way to show the world how they keep tryin to keep us quiet.... What happened to freedom of expression, freedom of speech??? We do think for ourselves. And we do see the injustices in our mother country!! We are treated and looked at as the stepchildren. But when there's a war to fight, we fight.
Que viva Puerto Rico!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
