TMZ posted a bunch more photos of Anthony Weiner admiring himself at the congressional gym. Now, I go to the gym and all gyms have mirrors because everyone at the gym is checking either themselves or someone else out while they are there. What they generally don’t do is stand there buck naked with a blackberry snapping photos. Note, here is one of the tamer ones:
Now, I’m not the first to notice that Weiner, for a little guy, is ripped. He had to be benching 240-250, which is pretty solid for a guy who probably weighs about 185 lbs. It’s a very good level of fitness for a guy with a demanding full time job that actually requires him to be on call 24/7.
Now here is where I’m going to enter full speculation territory. I have nothing to support this except that photo and his behavior. It’s speculation, not fact, but I’m going to throw it out there just because I’ve been wondering about it. Have a look at this list:
- Extreme mood swings
- Increased aggression or irritability
- Becomes disrespectful or abusive (verbally and/or physically)
- Poor decision making stemming from feelings of invincibility
- Becomes secretive and/or starts lying
- Withdraws from family members
- Depression
- Hallucinations
- Paranoia
That’s a list of behavioral changes often associated with steroid abuse. I’ll just point out that Anthony Weiner is now known primarily for two things. This:
The other thing he’s now known for is sending nude photos of himself to half a dozen strangers on the internet. And if we are to believe Gennette C’s story, he did this even when the woman on the receiving end had done nothing to invite said photos. Many of us, including myself, have been very suspicious of Gennette’s story because it’s just hard to believe any man could be so reckless, especially a member of congress. But “feelings of invincibility” might explain it.
Again, this is pure speculation. I’ve got nothing to prove this. I do think those photos and his behavior could fit into a pattern of steroid abuse. It’s also possible that he’s just an “excitable boy” who spent a lot of time in the gym. I do think someone closer to him would know if he’d been using steroids. It would be hard to hide for very long.
