Occupy Wall Street Protesters Travel North to Gracie Mansion

Michael Bloomberg and Diana Taylor at "American Woman: Fashioning a National Identity" Costume Institute Gala - Arrivals

Over 50 OWS protestors went to Gracie Mansion where Mayor Bloomberg was hosting an intimate dinner Sunday night for Senators and corporate executives to urge the Supper Congressional Committee to "go big" and cut $4 trillion in federal spending. The supper committee is composed of 6 Republicans and 6 Democrats. They represent the DemoPublican Party. Both party are controlled by the 1%— Not the 99% of the population. The protester quoted the mayor saying: Let them eat cake, meaning the OWS protesters.

One of the protesters was arrested for refusing to move along the sidewalk ("failure to obey a lawful order"), no more. The protesters were kept from crossing East End Avenue and there were far too many police earning far too much overtime.

This was a peaceful demonstration, but we think the oligarchs at Gracie Mansion heard our cry.

The police presence was a study in overkill, an inordinate number deployed with force on their agenda as they menacingly enforced made-up limitations about where the people could go. They literally formed a phalanx and pushed the people back. The Park adjacent to the Mansion was closed off. The people were restricted to one or two blocks across from Gracie Mansion. The people present were harmless, with an average age of 55. There was no need for such thuggism except to send a message out that this how you will be treated. Perhaps because the restrictions are so blatantly unreasonable, they are trying to incite rebellion. "Congress shall make no law..." I guess the forgot that part of the right to speak is the reasonable right to be heard. Reminds me of the 2004 RNC demonstrations where Bloomberg disallowed the protestors to convene in Central Park and instead offered a park in QUEENS,
or under the West Side Highway. The Founding Fathers are weeping. Oh, yes, did I mention that a middle-aged woman was arrested for "failing to obey a lawful" order to move? I challenge that claim. What lawful order was she violating? They make it up as they go along. Arbitrary & capricious and unconstitutional. Shame on the NYPD and the Mayor who pulls the strings.

Lisa Lowell Said: Had I not been sick I would have been there. 50 brave unpaid citizen, taking time and energy to object wholly to the obvious thing, that our country has been manned and monitored by the darkest side of humanity with no further excuses for it's exigencies. We witness a planet that is erratic and billious from environmental rape, an economy that is shattered by it's nefarious greedy 'players' and a leadership that is so much a runaway coven of sociopaths that they can only seek at this juncture to try to further rile the citizens to violence. We will give them no such satisfaction. As displayed here: we mock them, their petty dinners, their "making up the laws" impunity, and their insanity to think that we the people will tolerate this mass abuse.
