Racism are alive and well in America
"You Lie"
By Rafael Martínez Alequín
The winds of racism are alive and well in America. The sooner that the mover and shakers of this nation accept te fact that it is as prevalent today as it was in 1776, then this country could move forward to be an example to other nations, especially the new emerging nations’
This country, since it's independence from England, has filled the office of the presidency ,from George Washington to George W. Bush has white men. When they address Congress and the nation, the members of Congress have treated them with the utmost respect for the office they uphold.
This bring me to President Barack Obama's address to Congress and the nation. Never in this country history has a member of congress violated the code of behavior by calling the President a liar. As I stated, all of the previous presidents were white. President Obama as the first African- American president, was the first president to be defamed in such a way. Perhaps, the South Carolina Congressman, Mr. Joe Wilson, insulted the president because of the color of his skin. Mr. Joe Wilson made an ass of himself.
In reality, it is not only Congressman Wilson who revealed his racism, but now, the":decent” members of congress have to deal with this member of their party. Where are the editorial boards of this nation's newspapers to condemn the issues of racism in this country.
They have kept silent on this cancer in the United States. Where are the
political leaders? Why are they keeping their silence?
This country has not accepted the fact that we elected President Barack Obama . He was elected because he has a positive vision for this nation. Before he was elected, The U.S.A. was despised all over the world. Upon his election, the rest of the world, from Latin America, Africa, Europe, Asia and the South Pacific nations began to believe again in this country again.
The Republican Party with it's cohorts from Rush Limbaugh to Sarah Palin are pure, unadulturated racists.
