The
police officers streamed out of Rollin Greens, the Irish pub, and into
the cold. Trucks roared by. An icy wind left bare hands numb. But the
officers stayed put on that slushy sidewalk in the Bellerose section of
Queens last week, their attention fixed on the big man in pinstripes,
the insurgent in the ranks.
He is Brian Fusco, the policeman who has vowed to unseat Patrick J. Lynch, the fiery president of the Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association,
New York City’s largest police union. Mr. Fusco was coatless and
hatless as he addressed the crowd and the temperature hung a notch or
two above freezing. But he didn’t miss a beat.Brian Fusco, a 27-year veteran of the Police Department, is campaigning to unseat Patrick J. Lynch as president of the Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association.
