NY1's new 'Inside City Hall' anchor Errol Louis has connection to Andrew Cuomo

The "Cuomo Clock" might stop ticking when Errol Louis takes over NY1's "Inside City Hall" next week. Insiders at the cable news channel, which tallied the number of invites Andrew Cuomo has rejected for an interview on its political talk show, whisper that the governor-elect will likely cease the brush-off when Louis starts anchoring. Louis' wife, Juanita Scarlett, is a senior aide to Cuomo in the state attorney general's office and will likely follow him to the executive chamber. NY1 held off announcing Louis' gig until days before election day to appear objective, a source added. "The announcement was made when it was made, and there was no correlation to anything," a rep for NY1 said. Louis succeeded Dominic Carter, who left the channel after domestic violence charges were filed against him in October 2008. The NY1 rep said Louis' relationship will not affect his coverage of the governor: "Look at his body of work, do we need to say more?" Cuomo's office said, "No comment."
