Laughing All the Way to the Voting Boot

As the weight of a financial crisis and the historic White House race hangs over Americans, 'Saturday Night Live' tries to lighten the load. Barack Obama and John McCain both took some hits in a parody of their first presidential debate, but it was Tina Fey’s appearance as Sarah Palin that once again stole the show.
Playing off Palin's awkward interview with CBS News' Katie Couric this week, Fey satirized the Alaska governor's foreign policy experience, at one point saying, "Katie I'd like to use one of my lifelines. ...I want to phone a friend."
Given the incredibly tight presidential race, are these bits just a laugh -- or do they have real influence? Take a look at the videos that have gotten buzz, check out our "Punch Lines" quiz and let us know what you think about the impact of TV parodies on politics.
