RUDY: CIVIL UNIONS YAY, LABOR UNIONS NAY

In 1997, New York City unions overwhelmingly backed the reelection of Rudy Giuliani. In essence, he was one of them. The police thought he walked on water. A Brooklyn bred boy, tough talking with all the vernacular. It did not take long for the unions to realize that their "homey" was a phony. They would have had a greater friend in Louis Farrakhan than Rudy. On one hand, he was always quick to defend the cops. But on the other, he refused to accede to their labor demands. He took the same path with the UFT (Teachers Union) and municipal unions also. He publicly boasted about how he could not be controlled by the unions.
