He is abandoning his constitute base by following worrisome connections with some individuals and associations that are out to do harm. Case in point Vantage Properties LLC, an international real estate equity company that has been buying up rent stabilized buildings in his district and outside his district and engaging in harassing rent stabilized tenants, in order to evict them and/or offering them pay offs to abandon their rights to their apartments. Mr. Monserrate recently appeared on a flyer announcing a joint meeting with Vantage Management. Considering the fact that neither himself nor any representative from his office have come out to any of the organized meetings and rally's held to bring attention to this issue speaks volumes of where Mr. Monserrate's interests seem to lay these days. Check out the following links about the communities organizing efforts against the tactics that Vantage Properties LLC are employing and the absence of Council Member Hiram Monserrate.
http://www.citylimits.org/content/articles/viewarticle.cfm?article_id=3547&content_type=1&media_type=3
http://www.nydailynews.com/ny_local/2008/04/14/2008-04-14_tenants_say_rentregulated_apartments_thr.html
http://www.queenscourier.com/articles/2008/04/17/news/top_stories/news18.txtAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
